Late-night hosts have been diving deep into the current political climate, tackling topics ranging from Kamala Harris’s media strategy to Donald Trump’s connections with Vladimir Putin, not to mention New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

Stephen Colbert made a surprise return to *The Late Show* on Tuesday night, where he welcomed Kamala Harris for her first appearance as the Democratic presidential nominee. The Vice President has been making headlines lately with a whirlwind media tour that included appearances on *60 Minutes*, *Howard Stern*, and *The View*. Colbert humorously noted, “She’s even popped up on *Ink Master*, *The Mandalorian*, and talked about the child tax credit on *Bluey*.”

Colbert explained that this media blitz aims to connect with younger voters, particularly Black and Latino audiences. “I think I know which demographic we represent,” he joked, emphasizing his point with a louder tone.

Harris also made an appearance on the wildly popular podcast *Call Her Daddy*, which has earned a reputation for being “sex-positive,” “mega-popular,” and “the most-listened-to podcast by women,” as highlighted by *The Atlantic*. Colbert quipped about the podcast, saying, “That is, until the upcoming release of *A Microphone Next to Glen Powell’s Abs*.”

During her podcast chat, Harris addressed comments from Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders regarding her not having biological children. Harris responded, “I don’t think she understands that there are a lot of women out here who, one, are not aspiring to be humble.” Colbert nodded in agreement: “You don’t usually associate the word humble with wanting to be the most powerful person in the world.”

Colbert also took a jab at Elon Musk, who was spotted at a recent Trump rally, saying, “That’s gotta be a little confusing for Trump voters.” He mimicked Trump, saying, “I’m fighting for the little guy, and you know how much I hate immigrants, so please welcome an immigrant who makes more money in one second than you’ll make in your entire worthless lives!”

Jimmy Kimmel weighed in on the upcoming election, noting, “The Democrats seem to have some momentum, and All Caps-tain America is feeling the heat.” On Tuesday, Trump took to Truth Social to declare, “ANYBODY THAT CHEATS ON THE ELECTION IS GOING TO JAIL!!!” Kimmel humorously replied, “I agree, for this election and the last one too. I hope they silkscreen that sentence on the back of his prison jumpsuit.”

Kimmel also referenced revelations from Bob Woodward’s new book on Trump, highlighting comments from Senator Lindsey Graham, who likened Mar-a-Lago to “a little bit like going to North Korea” and acknowledged Biden’s win in 2020, regardless of Trump’s resistance to the facts. “Well, by all means, entertain his dangerous delusions until we’ve burned America to the ground then, Lindsey,” Kimmel sarcastically remarked.

Woodward’s book also noted that Trump contacted Putin seven times since leaving office, leading Kimmel to quip, “That’s less than Ivanka, but more than Tiffany.” Kimmel further pointed out that Trump had sent COVID testing equipment to Putin during the pandemic while American hospitals struggled to secure these resources. “Can you imagine?” Kimmel lamented. “Nurses, doctors, American hospitals couldn’t get these machines. He’s sending them to the devil himself.”

Seth Meyers joined the conversation on *Late Night*, pointing out that after Harris’s visit to *Howard Stern*, she saw a 15-point bump among Uber drivers. He also weighed in on Trump’s false claims in a recent Fox News interview about Harris not visiting areas affected by Hurricane Helene, quipping, “Imagine being such a liar that you get fact-checked by Laura Ingraham. That’s like getting fashion advice from Kevin Smith.”

Meyers added that Trump and Putin’s phone calls are a clear indicator of their relationship, saying, “That’s how you know they’re tight. Adult men never call each other.” He wrapped up by commenting on the growing instability in Eric Adams’s administration, questioning, “Who’s even left at this point? At this rate, his communications director is just going to be a Times Square Dora.”
