On the evening of October 26, the grand ethnic showcase titled “Hearts in Harmony, Dreams in Guizhou” kicked off in Guiyang. This performance aims to strengthen the awareness of the Chinese national community and support local residents, as part of the 2024 Guiyang National Unity and Progress Promotion Week.

Artists from Guizhou and Xinjiang joined forces to present a dual feast for the eyes and ears, captivating the audience with their impressive talents. The event was structured into three segments: “Ethnic Splendor,” “Beautiful Homeland,” and “Fire Trees and Silver Flowers,” featuring interactive games, song and dance performances, and a dazzling light show.

The Guizhou Ethnic Song and Dance Troupe, clad in stunning traditional costumes, showcased classic performances from various ethnic groups, including the Miao, Yi, and Bouyei. The Miao dance titled “Dancers of the Knife-Edge Mountain” garnered enthusiastic applause for its unique cultural techniques, while the award-winning play “Soul of the Yi” evocatively narrated the history and customs of Guizhou’s Yi ethnic community, transporting the audience to an ancient Yi village rich with mystery.

Xinjiang artists presented vibrant dances such as “Sawar Dene” and “Full Moon,” reflecting their rich cultural heritage. A collaborative performance of the song “White Horse” by artists from Guizhou and Xinjiang further emphasized the unity of their artistic expression.

Dorgi Nima, a participating artist from Xinjiang, expressed his honor in being part of the event. He noted that he and the Guizhou artists managed to rehearse the song “White Horse” in just two days, highlighting the universal nature of art.

Lu Xiaoyan, Deputy Director of the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Bureau in Guiyang’s Guanshanhu District, explained that the event is aimed at highlighting the themes of community, ethnicity, and public welfare, fostering interactions and integration among various ethnic groups to showcase the new face of national unity in the new era.
