Japan’s Empress Michiko suffered a fracture and has undergone surgery
In a recent interview, we addressed the health concerns surrounding former Empress Michiko of Japan. We learned that she successfully underwent surgery this morning for a fractured right femur. The procedure took place at 7:30 AM Japan time, although the duration of her hospital stay is still uncertain. This news comes just days before she is set to celebrate her 90th birthday on October 20.
Japanese media reports indicate that Empress Michiko fell at her residence in Akasaka, Tokyo, on the evening of October 6. Following her fall, she experienced significant pain in her right leg. She visited the University of Tokyo Hospital for evaluation yesterday, where doctors confirmed the fracture and scheduled her surgery for today. Notably, this is her second surgical procedure since September 2019, when she underwent surgery to remove early-stage breast cancer.
