In a thrilling display of talent, Francisco Lindor propelled the New York Mets to a 4-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies with a game-changing grand slam. This win secures the Mets a 3-1 series lead in the National League Division Series, marking their return to the NL Championship Series for the first time since 2015. Their next opponent will be determined by the outcome of the matchup between the Padres and the Dodgers.

The Phillies struck first in a do-or-die game, capitalizing on a Mets error to score in the fourth inning. However, in the sixth inning, Lindor ignited the home crowd at Citi Field. With one out and the bases loaded, he faced Carlos Estevez, who had just entered the game. Lindor crushed a fastball clocked at 99.4 mph, sending it soaring over the center field wall for a grand slam.

The ball left Lindor’s bat at an impressive exit velocity of 109.5 mph and traveled 398 feet, sending the 44,103 fans in attendance into a frenzy. With this home run, Lindor joins Edgardo Alfonzo as the only players in Mets history to hit a grand slam in the postseason.

Interestingly, Lindor has history with grand slams in the playoffs; back in 2017 while with the Guardians, he hit one against the Yankees in the ALDS. With this latest achievement, he ties the major league record for postseason grand slams with two, alongside the likes of Shane Victorino and Jim Thome.
