On October 12, a Jewish school in Toronto was attacked by gunfire, marking the second time the school has been targeted in a year. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed his concerns regarding the incident.

Toronto police reported that around 4 a.m., the Bais Chaya Mushka girls’ school was shot at, with the assailant firing from a vehicle. Fortunately, no one was injured, and only a window was broken.

This school, located in the North York area of Toronto, experienced a similar incident back in May, and investigators believe the two shootings may be connected.

The shooting occurred on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. Prime Minister Trudeau stated that he felt “very troubled” by the incident.

In a post on social media platform X, Trudeau said, “As we await more details of the situation, my heart is with the students, staff, and families of this school. They must be feeling very scared and hurt today.”

He further emphasized, “Antisemitism is a hateful and dangerous form of hatred that we will not allow to persist.”

According to a report by B’nai Brith Canada, antisemitic incidents in the country doubled between 2022 and 2023. Additionally, in November 2023, a Jewish school in Montreal faced two shooting incidents within a week, though no injuries were reported.
