On October 19, at 5:03 AM, authorities in China’s Huainan City received an emergency call reporting a fire in a self-constructed building located in Wangxu Village, Jiahai Town of Panji District. According to the latest updates from the Panji District Emergency Management Bureau, the tragedy resulted in the loss of nine lives by 2:52 PM that same day.

Eyewitness accounts gathered around 3 PM revealed that rescue workers from emergency services, firefighting units, and police had begun to withdraw from the site.

The affected structure was a four-story residential building, with the upper two floors completely destroyed and parts of the structure collapsed. Heavy machinery, including excavators, was parked in front and behind the building, while charred wooden beams and broken bricks were scattered across the ground. The walls and ceiling of the home had caved in, exposing the frame of the building.

Chen Huasheng, the director of the Panji District Emergency Management Bureau, stated that upon receiving the emergency call from residents, local authorities promptly mobilized firefighting and emergency response teams to the scene.

Currently, efforts are underway to address the aftermath of the incident and investigate the cause of the fire.
