On October 20, in Jakarta, Indonesian President Prabowo inaugurated his presidency, and Han Zheng, Vice Chairman of China, attended as a special representative of President Xi Jinping.

During the event, Han Zheng conveyed warm congratulations and best wishes from President Xi to President Prabowo. He emphasized that President Prabowo’s immediate visit to China after his election highlights the deep bond between the two nations and the importance placed on developing Indonesia-China relations. Han noted that President Xi and President Prabowo reached significant consensus on further strengthening cooperation between their countries during their meeting. He pointed out that President Prabowo’s inaugural speech, which focused on issues like food sovereignty and poverty alleviation, closely aligns with President Xi’s people-centered development philosophy. Han expressed confidence that under President Prabowo’s leadership, Indonesia will achieve even greater progress in national development and governance, and he affirmed China’s support for the new Indonesian government’s initiatives.

Han Zheng also shared three suggestions for advancing Indonesia-China relations. Secondly, he advocated for a deeper, all-around mutually beneficial cooperation that would extend its benefits to more people. Finally, he called for closer international collaboration to promote a fairer and more just global governance.

In response, President Prabowo asked Han to convey his heartfelt thanks and warm greetings to President Xi. He warmly welcomed Han Zheng as President Xi’s special representative at the inauguration ceremony. Prabowo acknowledged China’s significant influence as a major power and as a robust partner for Indonesia. He expressed the new government’s commitment to continuing the friendly policies towards China established by former President Jokowi, with a desire to deepen mutual support and cooperation, enhance coordination on international and regional affairs, and promote further development in bilateral relations.
