On October 26, the themed exchange event “Discussing Jianzhou: The Story of Beiyuan” took place in Sanfang Qixiang, Fuzhou. This event is a significant part of the series “Discover Jianzhou in Fuzhou,” which promotes the historical and cultural preservation in Jian’ou City, located in Nanping, Fujian Province.

The event focused on exploring the cultural significance of Beiyuan tribute tea, ways to enhance the Jian’ou tea industry, and the non-heritage transmission of Beiyuan tribute tea. Various activities showcased the rich history, unique ecological environment, and exquisite craftsmanship involved in tea production, allowing attendees to experience the exceptional quality and distinct charm of Beiyuan tribute tea.

Mr. Zhuang, a visitor from Xiamen, shared his thoughts: “Jian’ou is a beautiful city; I’ve been here a few times. Coming from Xiamen this time, I’m fortunate to participate in this promotional event for Beiyuan tea. It has attracted many tourists from different areas. This initiative is beneficial for promoting Beiyuan tribute tea and Jian’ou’s culture, encouraging more visitors to come.”

Beiyuan tribute tea has a rich history, dating back to the Tang Dynasty and flourishing during the Song Dynasty, serving as a tribute for 458 years—the longest in China’s tribute tea history. In recent years, Jian’ou City has aimed to enhance its tea industry with a focus on the “one leaf” goal, coordinating high-quality development around the “Three Teas.” They’ve introduced the “1+5 Beiyuan Revival Action Plan,” which addresses five key areas: revitalizing historical sites, storytelling, tea industry revitalization, integrating tea and tourism, and promoting external exchanges. This effort aims to establish Jian’ou as a sacred ground for Chinese tea culture, a historic hub for Eastern tea culture, and a research center for global tea culture. Initiatives include forming dedicated institutions, implementing strategic plans, promoting tea tourism integration, enhancing technological support, and increasing promotional efforts to bring the unique tea culture of this region to life and enhance the influence of the Beiyuan tribute tea brand.
