In a recent interview, we spoke to officials and residents in Datuan Town, Jianchang County, Huludao City, which was severely affected by flooding on August 20 this year. A total of 459 homes in the town require reconstruction, and local authorities are working diligently to expedite construction to ensure residents will have a warm place to stay this winter.

We visited Han Tun Village in Datuan Town, where we met Liu Baoyu, whose new house has reached the structural completion stage. Workers are currently installing insulation on the exterior walls. Liu, who usually works away from home, returned after the disaster and is actively collaborating with construction crews to ensure he can move in by the end of the month.

Nearby Liu’s residence, nearly ten other homes are also under reconstruction. Some construction teams have even set up temporary living quarters at the worksite, working overtime at night to keep up with the schedule.

In Tangwanggu Village of Datuan Town, the unified resettlement homes have been fully constructed. Inside, the spaces are equipped with wall panels and floor tiles, and the walls have been freshly painted, meeting the requirements for occupancy. These villagers will be moving into their new homes in the coming days.

XU Qingyuan, Deputy Secretary of the Datuan Town Party Committee, provided insights into the progress: “In our Tangwanggu Village, we have relocated 26 households to this new area. The construction of their homes is essentially complete, and the necessary infrastructure for water, electricity, and roads is also ready. Each plot covers about 270 square meters, while the houses themselves have a building area of 96 square meters. We started construction on September 5, and we’ve ensured that residents will have adequate living conditions.”

As of now, the completion rate for the main structures of the 4,156 homes under reconstruction stands at an impressive 94%. Local authorities are coordinating efforts with construction teams and increasing manpower and resources for the remaining unfinished houses, working tirelessly to complete all homes by the end of the month to ensure they meet occupancy standards.
