Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s residence was targeted by a drone attack from Lebanon on the morning of October 19, although both he and his wife were not present at the location, according to a statement from his spokesperson. The drone, which entered Israeli airspace, aimed for Netanyahu’s home in Caesarea. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries. Netanyahu later released two videos in English and Hebrew, asserting that “nothing will deter him,” and that Israel “will win this war.”
Netanyah u accused the Iran-backed Hezbollah of attempting to assassinate him and his wife, calling it a “serious mistake.” He further warned Iran and its proxies that “anyone who tries to harm Israeli citizens will pay a heavy price.” Hezbollah has not yet commented on the incident.
The Israeli military stated that out of three incoming drones, two were shot down, while the third struck a building, and an investigation is underway. Reports from The Times of Israel and The Wall Street Journal indicated that it remains unclear whether Netanyahu’s residence sustained any damage. This incident marked the first drone explosion in Caesarea, which did not trigger any alarms.
In the videos, Netanyahu, donning sunglasses and a black polo shirt, was seen walking in a sunny park. He mentioned in Hebrew, “You know, two days ago we eliminated the Holocaust architect (Hamas leader) Sinwar. As I’ve said, we are in a fight for survival, and we will fight to the end. I want to say that I am proud of our soldiers, proud of our commanders, and proud of you, the citizens of Israel.”
In the English version of the video, Netanyahu described Sinwar as a “terror mastermind whose thugs decapitated our men, assaulted our women, and buried our babies alive.” He stated, “We killed him, and we will continue to fight against Iran and its other terrorist proxies.”
On another note, Reuters reported that Israeli attacks on the Jabalia refugee camp in Gaza on October 18 struck multiple civilian homes, resulting in at least 33 deaths and 85 injuries. Local residents reported that Israeli tanks had destroyed roads and buildings.
Additionally, Hamas’s media office stated on the evening of October 19 that Israeli forces bombed a residential area in Beit Lahia in northern Gaza, causing at least 73 fatalities. The statement claimed the attack also led to dozens more injured or missing, with many being children and women. It further asserted that countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and France bear full responsibility for Israel’s ongoing “crimes.”
Intense Israeli military operations in northern Gaza continue, with the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East’s Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini reporting on social media that an additional 20,000 people were forced to flee the Jabalia refugee camp on October 18. The northern Gaza region is experiencing widespread communication and internet outages, with hospitals severely lacking fuel and medical supplies.
According to data released by the Gaza Health Ministry on October 19, over 42,000 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 100,000 injured since the renewed round of Israeli-Palestinian conflict erupted in October of last year.
Earlier this year, protests gathered outside Netanyahu’s residence in Caesarea, demanding action for hostages held by Hamas.
