On October 22, police in Jiangxi held a large-scale event in Nanchang to destroy a cache of illegal firearms and explosives. This effort, part of a broader initiative, led to the destruction of a total of 2,540 illegal guns over several days.

The Jiangxi Provincial Public Security Department recently organized this operation under the theme “Destroy Guns and Explosives, Eliminate Hazards, Ensure Public Safety.” A total of 11 designated destruction sites were set up across the province. In addition to the 2,540 illegal firearms, the operation targeted 170 simulated guns, 3,005 controlled knives, and 122 bows and crossbows.

This year, the Jiangxi authorities have been actively combating illegal firearm and explosive-related crimes, collaborating with the courts, prosecutors, and various departments like postal and transportation services. Their ongoing efforts have resulted in substantial outcomes, significantly tightening the control over these dangerous materials.

So far, Jiangxi police have solved 279 criminal cases related to firearms and explosives, arresting 392 suspects. They have also confiscated 1,374 illegal firearms, 71.9 tons of non-standard explosives, 25.8 tons of hazardous chemicals, and over 220,000 boxes of illegal fireworks, contributing to maintaining social stability in the province.

Furthermore, Jiangxi’s law enforcement agencies have employed seasonal campaigns, focusing on major incidents related to firearms and explosives. These operations have involved strong enforcement actions and multi-phase strategies to effectively deter illegal activities.

In addition to stringent enforcement measures, Jiangxi authorities have integrated their efforts with community engagement initiatives, such as the “One Million Police Enter Ten Million Homes” campaign. This collaboration led to a concentrated search and seizure operation aimed at identifying and collecting illegal firearms and explosives in high-risk areas, bolstering their efforts to ensure public safety.
